Glowing Face Spritzer

Did you know that achieving glowing skin is as easy as 1…2…3...?

Is your skin in need of some natural hydration? You can use this spritz daily - in the morning, in the evening, or twice twice a day! It also acts as an instant pick-me-up, either under or over make up.

A face spritzer, or facial mist, is traditionally a water-based product that can contain skincare ingredients such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid to provide skin hydration. Depending on the ingredients in your spritzer, benefits can include greater absorption of moisturisers and a smoother base for the application of makeup as well as fighting dryness and revitalising tired skin.

Sylvia has chosen this easy to make spritzer with essential oils for their skincare properties including rejuvenating and improving the appearance of your skin.

The three essential oils in this spritzer are: Geranium, Lavender and Frankincense.

Geranium essential oil is known for its healing benefits and has been used since ancient times for skin remedies. With its light citrusy and fruity accents, and a smell of rose itself, Geranium can be used as a less expensive replacement for rose essential oil. It can help balance sebum production and soothe inflamed areas. This oil is Sylvia’s favourite and one which she uses daily!

Lavender essential oil has been used for centuries. Egyptians and Romans used Lavender as a perfume and for bathing and cooking. Lavender has a floral scent with underlying green and spicy notes which help to give Lavender its woody undertones. It’s nourishing on the skin as it contains alcohols like linalool and linalyl acetate which give Lavender its calming and soothing properties.

Frankincense essential oil has a long history dating back 6,000 years. One of the original perfume scents, it was combined with a carrier oil and flowers from the local area to give it a more pleasant aroma. Known as the King of Oils, its aromatic earthy scent is often used as the base note for modern day perfumes. Its many uses and benefits include being a restoring oil that is supportive of cellular function and mood. It can help to hydrate dry skin and can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, scars and stretch marks.

Witch Hazel is anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and can help reduce the appearance of blemishes and puffy eyes. it also has a tightening quality which can help to ‘tone’ your skin and help balance oily skin. Sylvia prefers using witch hazel in her skincare as it is a gentler and more natural substitute than alcohol.

Distilled water is water that has been stripped of all impurities, including minerals and micro-organisms. Using distilled or filtered water cuts down the chances of introducing a contaminant to your recipe.
